Process Safety Management: Accountability

One of the initial steps in PSM implementation is to complete a qualitative gap analysis against the PSM standard (in this case, the CSA Z767 standard). To perform this gap analysis, PSM self-assessment worksheets have been developed as part of the current work. These documents are for the accountability element.

Accountability addresses senior management’s responsibility for the PSM system, including establishing process safety goals and considering process safety risks throughout the facility lifecycle. Senior management is responsible for ensuring the PSM system is implemented, effective, reviewed, and improved regularly.

The fact sheet to the left summarizes the accountability element of PSM and the self-assessment and action plan worksheet on the right is intended to help integrate the accountability element into your workplace.
