Pellets – energy and more! This is the motto of the European Pellet Conference 2026 on 25 February 2026 in Wels/Austria.

In a time of geopolitical instability, volatile energy prices, and global competition, one thing is clear: Europe must urgently reduce its dependence on fossil fuel imports. Pellets – a domestically available, renewable and CO₂-neutral energy resource – can play an expanding role in this transformation. While facing challenges such as increasing electrification, reluctance to invest or policy uncertainties, opportunities are emerging from new bioenergy applications such as BECCS, biochar and biocarbon for industry or fuels for the aviation industry.

Pellets strengthen Europe’s path towards a resilient, climate-neutral future. Their versatility makes them a cornerstone of the energy transition – supporting decarbonisation, sustainable industries, and the circular economy.
